Position: Application Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)

Job Site: 1548A Roger Dale Carter Boulevard, Kannapolis, NC 28081 (Monday - Friday)

Overview
Sentek Dynamics is seeking an Application Engineer for our Kannapolis, North Carolina product demonstration, assembly and service facility.  Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, this position requires advanced understanding in mechanical and electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in mechatronics to support the design of mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Design and analysis of hardware for harsh conditions including dynamic and thermal environments

  • Specifying and evaluating mechanical hardware including vibration testing and temperature control systems

  • Writing proposals and technical reports related to mechanical engineering topics and programs

  • Support existing product installations (post-sale technical support)

  • Support new product installations (participate in system installation)

  • Attend product (hardware/software) demonstrations to provide potential customers with details about the features and capabilities of Sentek Dynamics products

  • Engage customers, understand customer needs, identify solutions within Sentek Dynamics product offering

  • Act as product expert within the organization

  • Aid the sales team to meet and exceed sales targets

Requirements

  • MS or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering, preferably with coursework in design of electromechanical systems, logic and materials engineering

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with application engineering or similar role

  • Project experience that includes research, analysis, calculations, and creative solutions

  • Experience using AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS (or equivalent)

  • Knowledge of programming logic and Windows software

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Capable of hands-on work

Position: Field Service and Assembly Engineer

Reporting to the Field Service Manager, this position requires hands-on experience combined with technical knowledge and strong communication skills. Responsibilities
The Field Service and Assembly Engineer will be responsible for post-sale customer support including, but not limited to, installation, and service (diagnose, repair, and maintenance) of Sentek Dynamics’ vibration testing systems and environmental test chambers. This position will also support the assembly and test of products during production. A strong sense of responsibility and initiative is required along with cooperation with other departments.

Job Duties

  • Support new customers with facility preparations

  • Installation and commissioning of equipment at customer’s facility

  • Provide the first line of support to existing customers

  • Support customer requests for service and preventative maintenance

  • Prepare labor and material quotes for service and preventative maintenance

  • Prepare and maintain warranty and customer support records and reports

  • Production support – assembly and test of new products

  • Support the sales team to meet sales goals

  • Travel required 50%

Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic experience; refrigeration and fabrication experience a plus

  • Must be an organized, self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Computer literate with strong MS Office experience

  • Must be friendly, social, presentable and professional

  • Preference given to candidates with an ME or EE degree in combination with one to two years’ experience working on mechanical and electrical components and assemblies.

Position: Project Manager (Engineering)

Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, this position requires an organized self-starter with strong customer, vendor and inter-departmental communication skills combined with basic technical and operations knowledge.

Responsibilities
The Engineering Project Manager will process customer orders and serve as a point of contact for customers with queries about order and delivery status. The Project Manager will perform detailed checking of quotes, customer orders and company purchase orders to ensure accuracy. The position will purchase, track and manage parts and finished goods inventory in support of customer orders and service department requirements.

Job Duties

Project Management -

  • Making and tracking the schedules for mechanical and electrical projects

  • Check quote and customer purchase order for accuracy

  • Process customer purchase orders from sales and service departments and prepare confirming sales orders; check inventory for required parts/finished goods and issue purchase orders to vendors as necessary

  • Track and update order status during production

  • Communicate order status with customers

  • Advise accounting department of order status as it relates to accounts receivable and payable

Inventory -

  • Manage parts and finished goods inventory

  • Source and purchase parts and finished goods inventory with a focus on cost control

  • Confirm parts and finished goods availability in support of sales and service department requirements; order parts as needed and update sales and service departments and customer on delivery status

  • Product Maintenance Support -

  • Manage and update installation and warranty records

  • Communicate warranty expiration and recommended preventative maintenance dates to customers and sales and service department teams

Shipping/receiving -

  • Coordinate, communicate and perform all shipping/receiving activities with and between customers, vendors, logistics companies, customs, and company sales and service teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Physics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Three to five years’ experience in project management, purchasing or inventory management

  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to consistent, high-quality service

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer literate with strong MS Office experience

  • Bilingual in English and Chinese preferred because we deal with Chinese vendors

  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical components
